Looking Up

If you’ve noticed my previous posts, life happened. Quitting my job because my hours were being changed, dropping my phone in water, breaking my phone, and all the other little things in between that I’ve so calmly taken in stride. But now, life is looking up. I have more jobs than I should – all of them creative, which if you're a creative person, you’d understand this great feat. New phone so my fingers won’t bleed as they slide across the screen. New carrier (we’ll see how this goes), and it’s officially Spring.

I worked as a Script Supervisor for a Pilot / Pitch / Movie in itself called Filling In with director Bradley Hawkins. It was an awesome opportunity to work with people who are passionate because it shows through their talents and skills. I’ve done other script work, smaller projects, and I’ve even attended school for screenwriting and creative writing. But the area that I live in is not fruitful when it comes to the work that I want to pursue. It was blessing when I presented the position to Sarah Hawkins, the producer. At first, she wasn’t sure if she’d need me but in the end it worked out and I ended up meeting great people.

As the Script Supervisor, I had to watch every scene, every take, and make notes on whether the shot was good, bad, okay, while focusing on continuity. I worked closely with the cinematographer/videographer because I needed to write down each and every camera and lens being used. The more information I provided, the better because it’ll help with the editing process.

I participated in the ONYA Bud to Bloom Fashion Show at the Canandaigua Inn on the lake. The proceeds assisted Onya which is a philanthropic organization that fosters economic self-sufficiency among women and girls and personal growth. We wore clothes from The Country Ewe boutique. The same boutique I purchased these sunglasses.

The show was a success and again, I met a lot of amazing people. It feels good to finally be creative in all aspects of my life. I would not choose to have it any other way. It also helps when you have a great support system that doesn't yell at you when you do jobs for free to build your portfolio. Everything is pretty good now. I just have to remember when things aren't going right, all I need to do is look up.
Keep counting those blessings.
